Ordering food at favourite kids-friendly restaurant

Hi folks! My kids and I love visiting this place called MyVege where we get to write our own orders, with wide varieties of food choices (satay, dim sum noodles, porridge, juices, Rojak, u name it!). And KY loves being in-charge to take down our order. She learnt to fill up the menu code(and indicate our preference- less ice/no ice/hot; spicy/no chilli, etc), table name, date and no. of patrons on the table. Giving her a sense of achievement and fun I guess ;)

As for me I love visiting this restaurant cos their food arrived quickly, there's ample of space and high-chairs for kids, it i clean and I don't get stared at when we spent too long time finishing our meal there as this outlet has upstairs space as well when downstairs are fully-booked, patrons will move upstairs. Today I just went there and we spent an hour there ..yea..having a no-rush meal where kids enjoyed their food and mommy enjoyed her "peace". At this restaurant I don't have to force them to eat their food. They can memorize their favourite choices and lick them clean ;)

Which is your favourite kids-friendly restaurant?

What's for breakfast?

Hi folks!

My usual breakfast will be a cup of oats added with cranberries, bananas, raisins or nuts. I simply love the bit of sweet n sour taste that comes with adding cranberries in my oats ;) and gulp down together with my recent craze Korean buns! Have you tried them, the texture is what we call in Malay- "kenyal" thus it's kinda good exercise for the teeth not to mentioned it is made with a special highly nutritional flour and with added black sesame goodness! A hearty breakfast to start my day ;)

One of my favourite Indian dish

Hi folks! Last Sunday we went for dinner at one of our favourite dating place in the past..DH would then purposely drive up to this place in Klang from Setapak just to have his dose of Roti John@ Restarant Vegetarian Ka(somewhere near Jusco).

And my favourite dish there is this simple tosai. All-time
Favourite! What is your favourite Indian cuisine/food?

Cooking Fun with Friends

Hi folks! Last Sunday, i joined a group of friends for a cooking gathering. Each contributed their favourite dishes and we had so much fun and food! I offered my favourite salad dressing recipe whereas hubby tried his first time preparing the Gordon Ramsay perfect white sauce for the vegetarian mushroom "steak" and his favourite mash potatoes made from Russet Potatoes. Another friend made this puff which taste so good and so easy to make with ready made pastry skin(must try it next time and share with you all the recipe!) and the rendang and vegetarian ham pizza completes them all..the theme of our meal for the day- Western cuisine...till out next adventures to explore other types of cuisine! ;) cheers!

Lunch Pack Special today

Hi folks!

Ok..perhaps fried rice is not any special dish per say, but this one is prepared by DH. Yesterday, he volunteered to make egg toast for KY as her lunchpack. Who knows the kids finished off half the bread loaf last night. Thus, i cooked some rice for both of us as lunch. While I am steaming the rice, I steamed along ABC soup. Putting in whatever remaining ingredients I have in the fridge, i.e., potatoes, tomatoes, cashew nuts, red dates and ginger. I scooped the ingredient up for breakfast munching and put the remaining soup in thermos for three of us.

KY always love his dad's "rare" cooking. So yea..it's a special lunch pack today(sorry egg toast is too yummy ...I ate it for breakfast in the car without snapping any picture of it....wait till DH next offer to prepare for his princess ;)

Cheers!

Lunch Pack: Instant Roti Canai and DIY curry

Hi folks!

Lunch for today...Instant pack of Roti Canai (a type of Indian bread) with homemade curry (my first time cooking curry to match with roti canai).

Been trying to search and read curry recipes lately, had even bought an instant curry rendang package(but I didn't use it this round) as I am not good at making curry since I don't fancy spicy food. But i do love non-spicy curry, e.g., those we used to eat with roti canai or even some North Indian curry.

As DH bought a pack of instant roti canai last year, I am in the midst of clearing pantry and stuff, I decided to attempt to cook this curry myself..imagining or trying to remember the curry ingredients while scouting around ingredients available at home. Ha..true enough, I do not have the typical ingredients needed for cooking a decent curry...so I bought a packet of organic curry powder from BMS organic the other day and trying to work around the flavour and taste.

Voila, now i found a good way to finish off my remaining tomato paste..I added half can of tomato paste into the curry and it taste awesome (just like the curry my mom used to make for us!). And the curry turned bit soury, bit sweet(added bit sugar, salt to taste) so that it is suitable for KY to bring for lunch.

Verdict: Not bad if only i have steam the chickpeas in advance then i don't have to cook so long and the thick curry could retain(I added more water later on just so that the pot don't get burnt while i am trying to soften the chickpeas!)

So, in total below are the ingredients I used for this basic first-timer curry (hehe):
  • Curry powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar to reduce "hotness"
  • Half can of tomato paste
  • Potatoes
  • Tempe
  • Chickpeas
  • Water
  • Mushroom seasoning powder (optional)
  • Soy-based protein textured vegetarian fish and cubes
Yummy...Will remake this next time i learnt how to create my own roti canai ;)

Cheers!
(Lili, I ate two slices for lunch and it was so filling! I bet you feel the same during your breakfast!)

Lunchboxes and Food jar Search

Hi folks!

This year is a year I have to start packing lunch for KY as well as she starts primary school this year.

Saw these lunchbox and food jar at Jusco during their sales(ended 1 Jan), KY set her eyes on the 500ml Dora Explorer stainless steel food jar(after less about $119), but I find it but too big and deep for her ..hmm..wondering what people packed in it? Fried noodles/ porridge/soup?
Next, I saw a smaller size Dora Funtainer(selling at $69.90). I find this more suitable and easier for her to scoop the food/soup.

Fried Noodles

Hi folks!
This is yet another fast-to-cook and sure-loved dish I make when I am running out of time and ideas.. Here I added the remaining bell peppers and took the mushroom I added in the lotus root soup slice it for the noodles..yummy ..taste yummier with tomato sauce the way SE likes it ;)

Lunch pack- Sweet corn soup

Hi folks!

I have been searching for a good lunch boxes which can keep the food warm for our lunchboxes. I finally settled with this Thermos Dora Funtainer for KY which I used it to pack the soup of the day for her lunch. At her request, here's her favorite sweet corn soup which she likes me to add lotsa cashew nut in it. I scoop the ingredients to munch for breakfast while the soup I leave it for my lunch ;) cos I like them hot! Still has not found a very good lunchboxes that can keep the food warm..just lukewarm for now except for the thermos meant for soup!

Quick and Yummy lunch pack: Traffic light Omelette with rice

Hi folks!
Last week I had to cook 3 lunches for 3 of us ..tough job as KY is rather picky or as the father puts it. ..particular about her food..thus here's one easy and yummy one..I named it traffic light omelette(consist of yellow, green and red pepper) with vege ham(I can even add mushroom to make it a 5-color wholesome meals!) placed on top of sushi rice made into heart-shaped with the rice mold I got from Daiso..
